Sunken Gardens Animal Care Facility

St. Petersburg, FL

This project involved the construction of a cutting-edge animal care facility designed to meet stringent USDA and American Zoological Association standards. Key features include a small kitchen and food preparation area, permanent enclosures, an isolation room, specialty ventilation systems, and strategically placed floor drains to facilitate easy maintenance. Each aspect was carefully planned to ensure the highest levels of animal welfare, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability. In addition to the building’s internal features, the project also encompassed extensive site and utilities work, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure. The project was constructed in the middle of an active campus and special consideration was placed on reducing the interference with existing operations. The building was designed to disappear into the existing architecture and is surrounded by lush landscaping.
